The ATS Resume Checker gives a score out of 100 built from five areas, each worth a fixed share: ATS basics (20), Structure (20), Impact (25), Keywords (20) and Readability (15). The report lists every check it ran, sorted so the critical ones come first.
A word of caution before you start: every employer configures their software differently, so no tool can promise a particular outcome. What a check like this does well is find the avoidable problems — a missing phone number, no section headings, bullet points with no results in them.
Step by step
Fix ATS basics first
This block checks that your contact details are actually findable: an email address, a phone number with country code, and a LinkedIn or portfolio link. It also flags decorative symbols that confuse parsers. These are the cheapest points on the page.

Give the document a standard structure
Structure looks for the headings software expects — a summary or profile, work experience, education and skills — plus dates on your roles. Use plain headings such as "Work Experience" rather than something creative.

TipIn the builder these headings come from the sections themselves, so simply filling in the section gets you the credit.
Put results into your bullets — this is the big one
Impact is the largest block at 25 points. It looks for quantified achievements (percentages, money, volumes, team sizes), bullets that start with strong verbs like led, built or reduced, and enough bullet points to be scannable. Rewriting duties as results usually moves the score more than anything else.

Tip"Cut processing time 35%" beats "responsible for processing".
Cover the right keywords
Without a job description the checker rewards a clear Skills section and a reasonable spread of vocabulary. Paste a job ad in and it switches to a direct comparison, listing which of the ad's terms appear in your CV and which do not.

Tighten the writing
Readability covers length (roughly 350–950 words reads best), over-long lines, first-person phrasing such as "I" and "my", and tired filler like "team player" or "results-driven".

Re-check and compare
Apply your edits, download the CV again and run it back through the checker. Use the Critical and Improve filters on the report to see only what is still outstanding.

Questions people ask
What score should I aim for?
The report treats 85 and above as strong and 70–84 as solid with a few gaps. Below 50 usually points at something structural, like a missing summary or no measurable results.
Does a high score guarantee an interview?
No. It removes avoidable reasons for rejection. Employers and ATS platforms use different criteria, and the rest comes down to your experience and the competition.
Is this the same software employers use?
No. Employers configure their own systems. This checks the conventions that hold across most of them.
Can I check the same CV again after editing?
Yes, as many times as you like. Re-upload the updated file and compare the new score.
