1.Who we are

Make The CV (“Make The CV”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides an online CV/résumé builder and related tools available through our website and apps (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have.

This policy applies to everyone who interacts with us, whether you are simply browsing our website (a visitor) or you have created an account (a user).

2.Scope of this policy

This policy covers personal information processed through our website, web app, and mobile apps. It does not cover third-party websites or services we link to, which have their own privacy policies. Where we act on behalf of an employer or partner, additional terms may apply.

3.Information we collect

Information you provide to us

Account information — such as your name, email address, password, and (optionally) phone number and location when you register or update your profile.
CV content — the details you enter to build your CV, such as work history, education, skills, contact details, and any information you choose to add (including an optional profile photo).
Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects your card/billing details. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Support & communications — information you share when you contact us, submit a support ticket, or respond to surveys.

Information we collect automatically

Device & usage data — such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, referring pages, and interactions with the Service.
Cookies & similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used (see section 5).

Information from third parties

Sign-in providers — if you register or log in using a third-party account, we may receive basic profile details (such as your name and email) from that provider.
Payment & analytics providers — we receive limited information from our payment processor and analytics tools to operate and improve the Service.

4.How we use your information

We use personal information to:

Create and manage your account and build, save and export your CVs;
Provide, maintain, secure and improve the Service;
Process payments and manage subscriptions;
Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
Send service-related messages, and — where you have opted in — newsletters or product tips (you can unsubscribe anytime);
Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and security issues;
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

AI writing features. If you use our optional AI writing assistant, the text and context you submit are sent to our AI provider to generate suggestions. We do not use your CV content to train third-party models beyond what is required to return your result.

5.Cookies & similar technologies

We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

Preferences	Remember choices such as language, template, and layout preferences.
Analytics	Help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. Aggregated where possible.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where required, via our cookie banner. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Service works.

6.Legal bases for processing

Where required by law (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:

Contract — to provide the Service you have signed up for.

With your direction — for example, when you choose to export, download or share your CV.

8.Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, then retain and delete it in line with our retention schedules and legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (for example, for tax, accounting or legal reasons).

9.Data security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — such as encryption in transit, access controls and secure infrastructure — to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential and contact us if you suspect any unauthorised access.

10.International data transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) as required by applicable law, including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and the GDPR.

Many of these actions can be done directly in your account settings. To exercise any right, use the controls in your account settings. We will respond within the timeframe required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12.Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child, we will take steps to delete it.
